Domaine Coustarette French Winemaker

Jurançon, France

Domaine Coustarret

Domaine Coustarret is located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department of south-western France. Sébastien Bordenave Coustarret, seventh-generation winemaker, is leading his 6 ha domaine located on the highest point of the Jurançon appellation at 400meters above sea level.

The vineyards are planted on silty-clay steep hillsides benefiting from south-facing exposure facing the Pyrenees. Single Guyot pruning is used through the estate in order to better regulate vine vigor.

After having worked organically unofficially for years, Sébastien converted his vineyard in 2017. 2020 is the first organically certified vintage.

Following his natural path towards innovations, Sébastien is now experimenting with Biodynamic farming and natural winemaking. There is one word to sum up Domaine Coustarret wines: balance! Thanks to Petit Manseng grapes (80% of the dry Jurançon blend), Sébastien wines combine freshness and ripeness in a remarkable equilibrium.
