Cantine Amato

Founded in 1927, Cantine Amato is a fourth generation family winery based in Piraino, in northeastern Sicily. The family’s story began when Vincenzo Giardina Papa opened a small osteria, followed by his son-in-law Rosario “Saro” Amato, who established the winery at its present location in 1958. Today, Salvatore and his son Rosario continue this legacy, combining nearly a century of family tradition.

Certified organic since 2015, Cantine Amato works primarily with native Sicilian varieties sourced from four distinct territories across the island. Their goal is to produce fresh, expressive wines that remain closely connected to their place of origin while minimizing their environmental impact. Their newest chapter brings them back to their roots in Patti, where they cultivate a small vineyard of rare Nocera on their grandparents’ seaside land; a deeply personal project that reflects both the family’s history and its vision for the future.
